Epidemic situation in Kharkiv this year is unstable

According to the complex indicator of morbidity on all infectious pathology, the epidemic situation in Kharkiv city for the nine months of 2023 is considered as unstable.

It was reported today, on the 4th of December at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Kharkiv Сity Сouncil.

According to the Health Department, 30,000 cases of infectious diseases were registered in the city during the reporting period. The increased risks of medical and biological emergencies in the sphere of public health are attributed to the crisis situation caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Migration and high population density contribute to the emergence and spread of outbreaks of infectious diseases.

No cases of tetanus, diphtheria, viral fevers, rubella, carriage of cholera pathogens, etc. were registered this year. However, the epidemic situation in acute intestinal infections, respiratory tuberculosis, chronic viral hepatitis and parasitic diseases remains unsatisfactory.

During the epidemic season, which began in October, more than 8.5 thousand people fell ill with ARVI, including cases of COVID-19 in Kharkіv, of which almost 4 thousand were children under 18 years of age. This is 75% below the epidemic threshold.

In addition, four strains of influenza viruses and coronavirus are expected to begin circulating in the second half of December.
