Exhibition on the resilience of Ukrainian cities opened in Kharkiv
Today, on 8 April, Mayor Igor Terekhov took part in the opening of the exhibition ‘The Indestructibility of Ukrainian Cities’ at Kharkiv-Passenger railway station.
The mayor thanked the volunteers, charitable and international foundations and organisations for supporting the city in the most difficult times - for working at the sites of explosions, eliminating the consequences of enemy attacks, and helping to restore Kharkiv.
‘It is very significant that this exhibition is being held in Kharkiv today. It has already been in the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv and will be in Sumy. But today it is in the city where invincibility was born. Because Kharkiv residents are unbreakable. And the future of Ukraine depends on how we stand up. I am grateful to our Armed Forces for their protection, and I am grateful to each of you for all you are doing to rebuild our city. Only together can we move forward. And after peace comes, we will rebuild Ukraine together,’ said Igor Terekhov.
Each of the 15 columns that make up the exhibition symbolises a city that has survived missile attacks. The notches on the sculptures represent the number of hits. The pedestals are framed by real fragments of enemy missiles.
The author of the exhibition is sculptor Jan-Pawel Roman. The exhibition was created by the Dobrobat volunteer construction battalion, Naftogaz Group, the Diplomatic Academy and the Vladislav Chechotkin Charitable Foundation.
