Igor Terekhov took part in the International Economic Forum

In his speech, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov spoke about the measures taken by the city authorities to support business in the war. He emphasised that Kharkiv was the only city in Ukraine that cancelled all local taxes and fees to support entrepreneurship. This has contributed to positive dynamics: the number of newly opened businesses now exceeds the number of closed ones by 13%.

‘Economic development is the basis of Kharkiv's recovery. We are working hard on the city's development plan and have recently presented an economic recovery strategy together with international experts. It defines not only the steps to eliminate the consequences of the war, but also lays the foundation for creating a new level of infrastructure, economic and social development,’ said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor also thanked international partners, in particular, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank, for supporting projects in Kharkiv to purchase electric buses, build new metro stations and create an ‘energy island’ - a system of energy independence for the city.
